Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Place some FN-009 Black into a small cup and add a little bit of water to slightly dilute it (about 3 parts glaze and 1 part water).  It should be the consistency of a coffee cream.  Pour this into the teapot and roll around to completely coat the interior of the teapot.  Drain out the excess glaze and keep the teapot inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge. Allow to dry.
  3. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan,  apply 2 coats of FN-009 Black to the outside of the teapot. Allow to dry.
  4. With a pencil and AC-230 Clay Carbon Paper, trace on the fish pattern and sketch in some coral below the fish and on the spout, also some bubbles on the lid.
  5. Condition a CB-110#10/0 Liner by: dampen the brush in water and squeeze out any excess water. Load the brush with AC-525 Brush Cleaner then squeeze between a paper towel.
  6. Outline of the pattern, including the outline of the red dots, the eye and the pupil with AC-302 Wax Resist. All the black lines except the cracks are wax lines.
  7. Place a AC-224 Plastic Detailer Cap on the various S&C colors: SC-74 Hot Tamale, SC-11 Blue Yonder, SC-75 Orange A Peel, SC-2 Melon Choly, SC-27 Sour Apple, SC-24 Dandelion, SC-76 Cara bein Blue,
  8. Squirt the various colors into their spaces; using a small brush to push them into place in tight spots, the wax should keep the colors in place.  Stop after each color to dry in a flat position with a hair dryer on low.  Not necessary to completely dry just enough to dry the top layer, you will see it start to crack. More cracking will show up after firing.
  9. Using a CB-604 #4 and a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-74 Hot Tamale on the sides of the teapot, handle and spout. No need to force dry this section. Allow to dry.
  10. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
