  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Use an indelible marker to outline close to the image, just to give a sense of the space of the screen.  For the compass mark the N on the screen so you know which goes up.
  3. Mix some AC-310 Silkscreen Medium to some SC-15 Tuxedo on a tile. Use a palette knife to blend.  Add small amounts at a time, as it will thicken more as it sits. Should be the consistency of peanut butter.  Position the silkscreen with the gain side up on the plate. Rub some of the thickened SC-15 Tuxedo over the screen, press firmly.
  4. Use SG-401 Black Designer Liner to continue the waves across the plate.
  5. Using a CB-106 #6 Script Liner, float SC-58 501 Blues to shade the sky; don’t forget the sky between the sails. Apply 2 coats of shading around the backside of the ship and sails.
  6. Using a CB-110 #10/0 Liner, apply 1 coat of SC-74 Hot Tamale into the flags and the compass points.
  7. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of FN-213 Saffire Blue to the back of the plate.
  8. Apply Clear Glaze of Choice. If using Brushing Clear apply to the top only. If using Dipping Clear you can dip the whole piece.   Allow to dry.
  9. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06/05.
