CD-843 Alligator
1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge
and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
2. Avoiding the eyes, apply three coats of S-2119 Rich Chocolate tot he
entire frog. Use a damp sponge to wipe away color from the eyes.
3. Apply two coats of SC-39 Army Surplus to the frog, except the breast,
using CB-604 Soft Fan.
4. With the same brush, apply two coats of SC-5 Tiger Tail and SC-42 Butter
Me up randomly on the breast of the frog.
5. Using CB-604 Soft Fan, apply SC-28 Blue Isle and SC-27 Sour Apple here
and there on the frog body for a more appealing look.
6. Using CB-202 detail liner brush on two coats of SC-55 Yella Bout It
on the eyes, use SC-8 Just Froggy for the iris and SC-15 Tuxedo for the
pupil. Outline the eyes using CB-110 Liner.
7. Fire properly to shelf cone 06.
CD-825 Mule Shoe
1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge
and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
2. Using AB-834 Base Coat, apply one coat of SS-63 Black Forest to the
shoe. While the paint is still wet, streak some MM-102 Copper Metallic
into the wet paint abd then spray with MM-202 Green Patina. Allow to dry.
3. Using the same brush, apply MM-103 Dark Bronze to the insole and heel
of the shoe.
Using MM-105 Gold Metallic and the CB-110 liner, make narrow lines on
the sole of the shoe.
4. For the flowers, load BG-WFO/8 filbert wave with MM-102 Copper Metallic
and push and pull in petals with the copper. While copper is still wet
drip some of the MM-202 Green Patina on the copper petals to patina. MM-105
Gold Metallic is used for the centers.
5. Outline flowers and centers with MM-103 Dark Bronze using CB-110 liner.
6. Using AB-834 Base Coat, apply MM-502 Matte Sealer to the entire piece.
CD-845 Rain Boots Planter
1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge
and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
2. Slightly thin S-2119 Rich Chocolate and pour into the ware. Roll around
in a continuous motion until the inside is covered. Pour the excess out
and turn the piece upside down and dry. Leave in this position until the
glaze has lost the shiny look. Wipe off excess glaze on the outside of
the piece with a most sponge.
3. Brush three coats of S-2119 Rich Chocolate on the outside of the planter.
4. Using CB-604 Soft Fan, apply one coat of SC-5 Tiger Tail then one coat
of SC-42 Butter Me Up for the yellow stripe. With the same brush apply
two coats of SC-39 Army Surplus for the green stripe. Use AC-222 Medium
Writer Tip to apply a thin stripe of SC-74 Hot Tamale in between the yellow
and green stripes.
5. Apply one coat of SC-15 Tuxedo for the rim and soles of the boots.
6. Fire properly to shelf cone 06.
CD-846 Large Turtle
1. In wet greenware, cut top out for planter. Begin with properly fired
shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove
any dust.
2. Pour thinned S-2121 Shiny Black into the ware and roll around in a
continuous motion until the inside is covered. Pour the excess out and
turn the piece upside down to dry. Leave in this position until glaze
has lost the shiny look. Wipe off excess glaze on the outside of piece
with moist sponge.
3. Properly fire to shelf cone 06.
4. Use AB-834 Base Coat to apply one coat of SS-74 Jade Green to the center
square of the turtle’s shell. Using the same brush, paint the remainder
of the turtle with SS-63 Black Forest Green.
5. Apply one heavy coat of MM-106 Steel Metallic to the shell, stippling
the Steel Metallic onto the Jade Green center of each shell section. While
the paint is still wet, spray Steel Metallic with MM-202 Green Patina,
set aside to let the patina oxidize.
6. Using the AB-708 round, drybrush the turtle’s head and legs with
SS-48 Artichoke and highlight with SS-376 Limeburst. Stipple center squares
on shell with these colors also.
7. Use CB-310 shader with MM-103 Dark Bronze to darken the shadow areas
of turtle’s body such as legs where they meet the shell, under the
eyes and mouth and the wrinkles in the neck.
8. Using the CB-220 detail liner, paint the eyes with SS-135 White, then
SS-4l8 Artichoke for the iris and SS-138 Flat Black for the pupil.
9. Using the CB-110 liner, outline the shell markings with MM-103 Dark
Bronze.
10. If using outdoors, seal with AC-301 Repellent Sealer.
CD-848 Large Walligator
CD-849 Medium Walligator
1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge
and wipe bisque to remove and dust.
2. Using AB-834 Base Coat, apply SS-45 Buttermilk to the belly and lower
jaw of the Walligator. 3. Thin SS-63 Black Forest and apply to the body
using the same brush. Next, thin more SS-63 and wash over the belly.
4. Using AB-708 Round, dry brush three or four coats of SS-48 Artichoke,
adding SS-376 Limeburst to the brush to lighten the color to the body
of the Walligator. Using the same brush, apply highlights of SS-02 Lemon
Meringue on the raised spots.
5. Dry brush two or three coats of SS-45 Buttermilk using AB-708 Round
on the lower jaw and belly.
6. Using CB-308 Flat Shader, apply a thin wash of SS-24 Chocolate Fudge
to the shadowed areas of the body.
7. For the eyes and teeth, apply thinned SS-135 White using CB-202 Detail.
With the same brush apply SS-48 Artichoke for the irises, then apply SS-138
Flat Black for the pupils and toenails.

CD-850 Large Hosta Leaf Press Mold

CD-852 9.5” Circle Hump
1. Use the clay cutter or wire to cut off the desired amount of clay.
Use your hands to flatten the piece of clay. Play clay on the canvas with
wooden slats (2.25 in. x .375 in. x 12 in.) on the left and right side.
Roll out clay.
2. Lift clay from the canvas and place into the desired Press Mold. Press
the clay into the form using the sandbag. Remove the excess clay.
3. Use a BT-901 Clean Up Tool to lift the shape from the mold. Use a damp
sponge to smooth the edges of the clay surface.
4. Curve the Hosta Leaves by placing them in the Circle Slump and Hump
molds (use corresponding size). Remove piece from the mold when the clay
is leather hard. Allow piece to dry completely before firing. Do not force
dry clay as this may cause cracking and warping.
5. Properly fire Hosta Leaves to shelf cone 04.
6. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
7. Using CB-604 soft fan, apply two coats of S-2119 Rich Chocolate to
the top of the leaves and three coats to the bottom.
8. For the large leaf: To nearly half of the leaf, apply two coats of
S-2168 Red Hot Red, and to the other nearly half apply 2 coats of S-2143
Rustic Orange using the CB-604 soft fan. Overlap the colors; apply 2 coats
of SC-39 Army Surplus to the remaining area, overlapping the previous
colors.
9. For the small leaf, apply 2 coats of the following colors: SC-28 Blue
Isle, S-2591 New Leaf and S-2143 Rustic Orange. Refer to the photo for
color placement.
10. Use a sea wool sponge and sponge on SC-74 Hot Tamale onto the Red
Hot Red and the Rustic Orange area of the leaf.
11. Using the RB-150 Splatter brush, spatter on SC-39 Army Surplus to
the leaf by flicking your wrist toward the piece.
12. Properly fire to shelf cone 06.
