CD-589 Sm. Rain Boots Planter

Butterfly Boots
1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
2. Draw on butterflies. For two of the butterflies, load CB-106 Script Liner with SC-77 Glo-Worm and tip brush with SC-76 Cara-bein Blue stroke in two brush stokes for the top wing and one for the lower wings, load brush for each brush stroke. One coat.
3. For the remaining butterflies, load the CB-106 script liner with SC-78 Lime Light and tip brush with SC-76 Cara-bein Blue and stroke in wings.
4. Float SC-76 Cara-bein Blue around all the butterflies and inside edge of plate with CB-310 flat shader, fill in remaining unpainted area with SC-77 Glo-Worm using the flat shader.
5. Sponge off any paint that gets on the border.
6. Add a little water on the brush to thin the SC-15 Tuxedo to paint the bodies of the butterflies with CB-110 liner. Outline and detail butterflies with CB-110 liner using SC-15 Tuxedo.
7. Dot eyes with SC-16 Cotton Tail then with a smaller black dot using SC-15 Tuxedo.
8. Thin SC-76 Cara-bein Blue slightly, using CB-404 pointed round make light dots of the color scattered around the butterflies.
9. Load CB-604 soft fan with SC-76 Cara-bein Blue and apply 2 coats to the inside, toprim and sole’s of the boots
10. Use the CB-106 script liner to edge the plate with SC-76 Cara-bein Blue and the CB-604 soft fan to paint the back, one coat of SC-76 Cara-bein Blue.
11. Using a soft fan brush, apply 2 coats of S-2101 Natural Clear or C-101 Blu-White Clear glaze to the boots.
12. Fire to properly fired shelf cone 06.

CD-853 Wide Mouth Frog

Flowered Frog and Frog with mouth
1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
2. For both frogs body’s: thin like water SC-36 Irish Luck to brush entire piece with CB-604 soft fan. Remove excess to antique using a damp sponge by just patting the color so it is not wiped to clean.
3. Mix SC-27 Sour Apple with SC-26 Green Thumb (2:1), thin slightly and apply two coats to frogs, skipping over the detail, use CB-604 soft fan.
4. Frog Bank / Birdfeeder: Using CB-404 pointed round apply three coats of SC-74 Hot Tamale to the tongue of the Pencil on flowers using the frogs warts as the center of the flower.
5. For the flowers, load CB-106 script liner with SC-75 Orange-A-Peel tip brush in SC-14 Java Bean, press and pull petals to center Repeat twice for a good coverage. Brush centers with SC-14 Java Bean using CB-404 pointed round. Outline flowers and stroke in spirals with SC-15 Tuxedo using CB-110 liner.
6. Frog Container: For dragonflies , Using a CB-106 script liner, stroke in the bodies with SC-74 tipped with SC-14 Java Bean. Apply two coats of SC-16 Cotton Tail side loaded with SC-11 Blue Yonder to the wings using CB-404 pointed round. Apply two coat of SC-16 Cotton Tail to the eyes using CB-220 detail, dot the eyes using SC-15 Tuxedo with the detail brush. Outline and stroke in the antenna with SC-15 Tuxedo using CB-110 liner.Paint the warts on the back of the frog with SC-36 Irish Luck.
7. Eyes are first painted with two coats of SC-55 Yella About It then two coats of SC-26 Green Thumb for the iris and one coat of SC-15 Tuxedo for the pupil. Use the CB-220 detail liner and the CB-110 liner to outline.
8. Using a soft fan brush, apply 2 coats of S-2101 Natural Clear or C-101 Blu-White Clear Glaze.
9. Glaze fire to properly fired shelf cone 06.

CD-855 Lg. Frog on Rocks

Note: To suspend butterfly a small hole must be placed in the wet greenware for the wire.
1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
2. Thin SC-36 Irish Luck with water, using CB-604 soft fan apply color to the entire frog. Use a sponge removing excess to antique, leaving it heavily antiqued.
3. Thin SC-27 Sour Apple and SC-26 Green Thumb slightly, using CB-604 soft fan brush on two thinned coats on the body of the frog. Use the darker green in the shadow areas and the SC-27 Sour Apple on the high areas.
4. Thin SC-55 Yella Bout It and brush on two coats on the breast of frog using CB-604 soft fan. Swipe some thinned SC-27 Sour Apple onto breast to blend.
5. Thin SC-15 Tuxedo as a wash and brush over rocks using CB-604 soft fan, remove excess with a wet brush or just pat with a damp sponge, so as not to remove to much color.
6. Thin SC-36 Irish Luck and brush here and there over rocks, thin SC-14 Java Bean and brush over some rocks, using CB-604 soft fan.
7. Eyes are first painted two coats of SC-55 Yella Bout It with CB-404 pointed round, Iris is two thinned coats of SC-26 Green Thumb, and pupil is SC-15 Tuxedo.
8. Butterfly: Load CB-408 pointed round with SC-75 Orange-A-Peel and tip with SC-14 Java Bean brush from the body to the tips of the wings, apply two coats. Dot SC-55 Yella Bout It onto the wings for detail, shade dots with SC-31 The Blues.
9. Using a soft fan brush, apply 2 coats of S-2101 Natural Clear or C-101 Blu-White Clear Glaze. Make sure hole is clear of glaze before firing
10. Glaze fire to properly fired shelf cone 06.
11. Attach a wire to butterfly with E-6000 glue spiral wire and insert into hole.

 

Rusty Gnome
1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
2. Thin SS-63 Black Forest and apply to the face, hands, and beard with AB-834 basecoat, apply to the rest of the gnome without thinning.
3. Dry brush the face and hands with SS-192 Light Taupe, brush cheeks and lips with SS-51 Coral Rose, use AB-708 round.
4. Dry brush beard with SS-108 Light Grey using AB-708 round.
5. Brush on one coat of MM-106 Steel Metallic using AB-904 stiff fan, spray with MM-305 Rapid Rust, wait till it starts to rust then apply a second coat of the steel metallic and re-spray with the Rapid Rust.
6. Mix MM-106 Steel Metallic with MM-305 Rapid Rust, brush this thin mix over the face, hands, and beard, re-dry brush the face and beard colors.
7. Dry brush some SS-48 Artichoke on the jacket and pants, re-apply the MM-106 Steel Metallic and spray with MM-305 Rapid Rust. Layering the color and the rust will give the piece a more authentic look of an old rusty object.
8. Paint eyes with thinned SS-135 White with SS-48 Artichoke iris and SS-138 Flat Black Pupils.
9. Piece can be sealed with 2 coats of MM-502 Matt Sealer, this will stop the rust process, or it can be left unsealed and the rust will continue over time.
10. DO NOT FIRE!

CD-858 Birch Stump Planter

Birch Tree Planter
1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
2. Apply 3 coats of S-2121 Shiny Black to the inside of the plater
3. Fire to properly fired shelf cone 06.
4. Thin SS-133 Eggshell like water and brush over entire stump with AB-834 base coat brush. Let dry.
5. Thin SS-138 Flat Black like water and brush over planter to antique. Do not wipe off. The thin paint will fall darker in the shadow areas.
6. Wet brush SS-133 Eggshell on planter 2-3 coats using AB-708 round brush, wet brush SS-135 White 1-2 coats over planter, using same brush.
7. Thin black and brush in knot holes using a CB-404 pointed round, brush the thinned black around the short limbs for depth.
8. Thin SS-234 Medium Mocha and brush around the knothole to “dirty it up” a little, use AB-902 stiff fan.
9. Apply 2 light coats of AC-514 Matte Spray.
10. DO NOT FIRE!
