Marbleized Flower Pot

A marbleizing technique involves gently swirling several glazes without fully blending them. Glazes tht are too fluid will continue to blend during firing; Foundations and Stroke & Coat are good to use for marbleizing.

Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of FN-221 Milk Glass on the outside of the pot.
  3. Fill 3 separate AC-219 Designer Bottles with the following colors: FN-203 Dry Champagne, FN-220 Sooty Grey and FN-221 Milk Glass. Add a few drops of water to slightly thin. This will make the glaze move easier. Too much water will make the glaze run off the piece. Mix each well. Note: Do not use the metal tip, just the plastic.
  4. Squeeze each of the glazes, FN-203 Dry Champagne, FN-220 Sooty Grey and FN-221 Milk Glass, onto the piece in a spiral pattern then rotate the piece so the glazes start to blend into one another. If there are any blank areas, add more FN-221 Milk Glass. Continue around the piece until all the outside is covered. Allow to dry.
  5. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2- 3 coats of FN-009 Black on the inside of the pot. Allow to dry.
  6. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06.
