  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Place a small amount UG-50 Jet Black on a palette.  Add a pinch of AC-310 Silk Screen Medium and mix with a palette knife until the mixture has the consistency of peanut butter.
  3. Place the fern leaves silk screen on the vase. Using a your index finger rub the UG-50 Jet Black mixture on the silk screen. Allow to dry.
  4. Place a small amount SW-127 Olivine into a small cup and add a little bit of water to slightly dilute it (about 3 parts glaze and 1 part water).  It should be the consistency of a coffee cream.  Pour this into the vase and roll around to completely coat the interior of the vase.  Drain out the excess glaze and keep vase inverted until it has lost its shine. Wipe off any glaze from the outside using a damp sponge, then apply 3 coats to the top rim. Allow to dry.
  5. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2-3 even coats of SW-124 Matte Maycoshino to the center area of the vase and only 2 coats to the top neck and shoulder and bottom of vase: 2 coats allows for more of the brown tones to develop.
  6. With a damp sponge, wipe off any excess glaze off the foot of vase.
  7. Place on a high-fired kiln washed kiln shelf.
  8. Do Not Stilt and make sure the vase is not hanging over the kiln shelf.
  9. Fire to shelf cone 5/6.
