Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of SW-106 Alabaster to the top of the plate. Allow to dry.
  3. Pencil in the center of the flower and the outer edge of the flower.
  4. Soak the cut sections of raffia in the SW-106 Alabaster glaze. Cut the pieces to fit the shape of the petals make sure to use different widths and even the strands of the raffia, pull apart some of the raffia if it is too wide.
  5. Apply on another coat of the SW-106 Alabaster, working in sections, as you must set the raffia in wet glaze.  Press so it will not permit glaze to seep under.
  6. Using a CB-106 # 6 Script Liner, apply 2 coats of SC-30 Blue Dawn to the center of the flower, when the SC-30 Blue Dawn is dry dot with SG-401 Designer Liner.
  7. Apply 2 coats of SW-302 Rutile Wash to the petals section of the flower, brush out the SW-302 Rutile in even coats.
  8. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 more coat of SW-106 Alabaster over the top of the plate, omitting the center of the flower.
  9. Remove the raffia when the last coat of SW-106 Alabaster has lost its shine.
  10. Apply 3 coats of SW-127 Olivine to the back of the plate, touching the front edge over the SW-106 Alabaster.  This will move the SW-127 Olivine slightly.
  11. With a damp sponge, wipe off any excess glaze off the foot of plate.
  12. Place unstilted, on a high-fired, kiln washed kiln shelf.
  13. Fire to shelf cone 5/6.
