Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque.  Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, base coat the inside of ware with 3 coats of SW-129 Copper Float. If doing a mug, base coat the entire piece.
  3. Once glaze is completely dry, sketch out a circle on the bottom of the bowl or plate. For example, the Salad Bowl would be approx. 4.5 inches in diameter.
  4. Within circle, draw triangle patterns.
  5. Condition a CB-110 #10/0 Liner by: dampen the brush in water and squeeze out any excess water. Load the brush with AC-525 Brush Cleaner then squeeze between a paper towel.
  6. Using the conditioned CB-110 #10/0 Liner brush, wax off the negative space between the triangles and about ½ inch wide band around the drawn circle.
  7. Once wax is dried, using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of SW-109 Capri Blue over the triangle and around the inside rim. If  doing a  mug, apply 3 coats of SW-109 Capri Blue to the inside and outside rim.
  8. If desired, wipe off beaded glaze on the wax resist with a damp sponge or brush.
  9. Using a CB-604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of SW-101 Stoned Denim to the outside of the bowls and plates. Allow to dry.
  10. Using a damp sponge, wipe of the foot of each piece.
  11. Do not stilt and make sure the ware is not hanging over the edge of the kiln shelf.
  12. Fire to cone 5/6.
