Black Walnut

SW-104

Cone 6 oxidation (larger image): Black Walnut is a dark brown soft matte glaze that breaks a rich warm brown.

Cone 10 reduction (smaller image): Rich brown undertones come through.

TIP: The thinner the application, the lighter brown the color. The thicker the application, the darker the brown color. For a saturated opaque finish, apply 4+ coats. This glaze is high in manganese which allows it to combo well. Has a satin finish.

Description

Stoneware matte glazes range from solid shades to those that create interesting color variations as they move and break. Application thinkness is the key to making mattes work for you.

Chips shown are fired flat on a white clay body fired to cone 6 oxidation and cone 10 reduction. The choice of clay body, the thickness of glaze application, the firing process, and temperature will affect the fired results.
