Cement Goose with Apron

Instructions

  1. Cast the molds, Clean the greenware or begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Using a CB604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of UG051 China White to the entire Goose either greenware or bisque.  Allow to dry!
  3. Bisque fire to shelf cone 04.
  4. Using a CB604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 1 coat of SC090 Elephant Ears to the wings and tail of the Goose. 
  5. With a damp Synthetic Sponge, wipe back the color leaving it in the crevices of the wing and tail.   Allow to dry!
  6. If needed, reinforce the SC090 Elephant Ears in the crevices if to much was wiped out.
  7. Using a CB106 #6 Script Liner and a CB604 #4 Soft Fan, Apply 2 coats of SC024 Dandelion to the feet and beak of the Goose.  Allow to dry!
  8. Using a CB106 #6 Script Liner and a CB604 #4 Soft Fan, Apply 2 coats of SC097 Cant-elope to the feet and beak of the Goos. Allow to dry!
  9. Shade the feet and beak with SC090 Elephant Ears.
  10. Using a Pencil, sketch the apron on the Goose, create a trim edge to the apron.
  11. Using a CB106 #6 Script Liner, apply 3 coats of SC055 Yella Bout It to the trim of the apron.  Allow to dry.
  12. Using FD258 Pure White French Dimensions, outline and add scallops and dots in the trim over the SC055 Yella Bout It.  Allow to dry!
  13. Using a CB202 #2 Detail Liner and a CB110 Liner, paint eyes with SC015 Tuxedo, SC011 Blue Yonder and SC16 Cotton Tail. Apply 1 coat of S2101 Crystal Clear Brushing glaze to the eyes.  Allow to dry!
  14. Using a CB106 #6 Script Liner and a CB604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 3 coats of CG982 Mixed Mellon to the apron. Allow to dry!
  15. Using A CB604 #4 Soft Fan, apply 2 coats of EL101 Oyster Shell to the Goos body followed by 1 coat of S2101 Crystal Clear Brushing glaze over the EL101 Oyster Shell.   Allow to dry!
  16. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06.

Additional Adaptations & Tips

  1. Make sure to shake all products to mix well.
  2. Stir the crystal in the bottom of the Jungle Gems to loosen them up and then Shake well.
  3. Place the Jungle Gems on a plate and using a CB604 #4 Soft Fan to apply to the piece.  This helps to apply the color evenly since the crystals float to the bottom of the jar.
  4. French Dimensions are a raised dimensional glaze product.
  5. Applying UG051 China White to the surface of the piece will make sure that you have a white surface to work with if your body is not white.
