Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust.
  2. Draw pencil popsicle shapes on your plate. They can overlap. Don’t forget to add your popsicle stick!
  3. Pour a small amount of each EZ color into 2oz cups then add some water (about 1:2 ratio of color to water).
    1. Tip: EZ Stroke colror goes a long way! You don’t need a lot for great pigment.
  4. Use your script liner brush to mix the colors with the water.
  5. Choose one popsicle and use your Script Liner brush to apply Creamsicle to the popsicle with brushstrokes. Once dry add more color to some of the edges of the popsicle to create shading.
  6. Plop your brush loaded with color to the edge of the popsicle to create the color bursts
  7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 with Poppy Orange and Blue Turquoise in the other popsicle shapes.
  8. Using a Script Liner brush, apply Medium Mahogany to the popsicle sticks. Only 1 coat is needed or add a second coat to one of the edges to create shading.
  9. Go back in to each popsicle color individually and load your brush. Pick up your plate and tap your brush handle against the edge to create a splatter across the plate. On the sample, the brush was tapped against the side with the matching popsicle color (i.e: if the brush is loaded with Creamsicle, tap on the edge closest to the Creamsicle popsicle).
  10. Using your Detail Liner, pick up some of the Cobalt Jet Black to outline the popsicle shape including the stick.
  11. Load your Script Liner with Chartreuse and run your brush along the edge of the plate. It’s okay if the color drips down. You can also scrape your brush against the edge to create drips.
  12. Once dry, dip into clear glaze, stilt, and fire to cone 06.
