Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust. Do not oversaturate the bisque with water. 
  2. With a #8 Soft Fan Brush (RB-140) apply 2 coats of EG006 Sparkle Black Engobe to the entire outside of the vase, including the bottom. 
  3. Before engobe is completely dry (just when the shine is off) use a cloth or your finger to buff over the engobe to reveal the sparkle in the engobe. 
  4. Apply 3 coats of SW143 Abalone to the middle, carved section of the vase stopping about 1” from the bottom of the vase using a #8 Soft Fan Brush. 
  5. Do not wipe the engobe off the foot of the piece since engobes do not stick to the kiln shelf.  
  6. Do not stilt.
  7. Fire to cone 6.
