Mink Speck and Milk Glass Terracotta Engobe Vase

Instructions

  1. Begin with properly fired shelf cone 04 bisque. Moisten a clean sponge and wipe bisque to remove any dust. Do not oversaturate the bisque with water. 
  2. With a #4 Soft Fan Brush (RB144) apply 2 coats of EG007 Terracotta Engobe to the Inside and outside of the vase, including the bottom. 
  3. Apply 3 coats of SW221 Mint Speck to the inside and outside of the rim, about 1” down from the top  and a 2” band in the middle of the vase using a #4 Soft Fan Brush. 
  4. With a #4 Soft Fan Brush apply 3 coats of SW223 Milk Glass over the top ½ of the base, between the 2 bands of SW221 Mint Speck. 
  5. With a #4 Soft Fan Brush apply 3 coats of SW223 Milk Glass to the inside of the vase. 
  6. Using the #2 Soft Fan Brush, apply 1 light coat of SW401 Light Flux over the top of SW221 Mint Speck, on the outside rim of the vase. 
  7. Do not wipe the Engobe off the foot of the piece since Engobes do not stick to the kiln shelf.  
  8. Do not stilt 
  9. Fire to cone 6
