Trace your fish template onto a piece of tissue paper using a pencil.
Place the tissue paper onto the plate and transfer the design by tracing over the pencil lines with a water-based marker. The moisture from the marker transfers the pattern to the pottery, leaving a guide for painting.
Thin each E-Z Stroke color with water until it reaches the consistency of watercolor paint.
Using a small round brush or the detail liner brush, fill each fish with washes of Dutch Blue (EZ035) and Cool Blue (EZ110) and Midnight Blue (EZ023). Allow the colors to flow and blend naturally, creating a loose watercolor effect. Add more or less pigment to achieve the level of transparency and movement you desire.
Once the fish are dry, use Midnight Blue (EZ023) to outline each fish, defining the shapes while maintaining the soft watercolor appearance.
Using the same Midnight Blue and a small round brush, paint loose, random squiggly lines around the rim of the plate to create a playful border inspired by gentle waves and flowing water.
Allow the plate to dry completely.
Apply 2 even coats of SW004 Zinc-Free Clear to the entire plate using a #4 Fan Brush, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next. Don’t paint the bottom of the plate.
Fire to Cone 6 following your normal stoneware firing schedule.
