Which Mid-Range Fired Glaze is Right for You?

We offer many different product lines, each with unique performance properties. To assist new users in selecting an appropriate product, we have provided this overview. The following glazes are intended for use at mid-range, cone 5/6.

  • The “cracked” effect has traditionally been used to create a vintage or antique appeal
  • Fires from cone 06/05 to cone 5/6
Classic Crackles™
  • Creates a textured “cobbled” surface when fired
  • The underlying glaze will appear in the cracks
  • White Cobblestone can be color tinted
  • Fires from cone 06/05 to cone 5/6
Cobblestone
  • Clay based and heavily pigmented
  • Metal writer tip allows for ultimate control to draw ultra-fine lines, typography and intricate illustrations
  • Fires matte without clear glaze
  • Fires from cone 06/05 to cone 5/6
Designer Liner
  • Inspired by aspects of nature to simulate the look of mid-range glazes but in a low fire firing
  • Use for all over coverage or in design
  • Palette features gloss and matte finishes
  • Fires from cone 06/05 to cone 5/6
Elements™ and Elements™ Chunkies
  • Developed to be used in combination with other mid-range glazes to produce flowing effects
  • Creates movement, bringing about “hidden” colors and visual texture
  • Fires from cone 5/6 to cone 10
Flux
  • Available in gloss (opaque), translucent (sheer) or matte finishes
  • Use for all over coverage or in design
  • Intermixable for custom colors
  • Fires from cone 06/05 to cone 5/6
Foundations®
  • Use for all over coverage or design work
  • Fires matte without clear glaze
  • Fires from cone 06/05 to cone 5/6
Fundamentals® Underglaze
  • Contains small pieces of glass that melt during the kiln fire, leaving a fun splash of color
  • Use for all over coverage or in design
  • Glossy finish when fired
  • Fires from cone 06/05 to cone 5/6
Jungle Gems™ Crystal Glazes
  • Moving, flowing glazes, commonly used under or over other glazes to create reactions and movement
  • Simulate effects of higher fire glazes at low fire

Pottery Cascades
  • Dimensional glaze that creates a white, textured surface
  • Perfect for creating designs and dimensional scenes
  • Fires from cone 06/05 to cone 5/6
Snowfall
  • Functions as a high-gloss clear glaze with the added surprise of specks
  • Used for all over coverage or in design with Stroke & Coat, Foundations, Fundamentals, and other Mayco glazes
  • Fires from cone 06/05 to cone 5/6
Speckta-Clear
  • Includes Classic, Matte, Crystal and Gloss glazes
  • A variety of finishes, textures and endless possibilities for glaze combinations
  • Fires from cones 5/6 to cone 10
Stoneware
  • Mayco offers three clear dipping and brushing glazes: Clear, Matte Clear, and Zinc-Free Clear

Stoneware Clear
  • Magma and Mudcrack create a raised surface texture that adds tactility to the decoration

  • Enhanced version of popular Stroke & Coat® colors with the addition of small specks of color
  • Translucent with one coat; opaque with 2-3 coats. Fires to a glossy finish
