Instructions

Build:

  1. Start with a small slab of clay cut into a circle as your base
  2. Roll coils and build upward
    1. Coils should be about the thickness of a pencil or your finger
    2. You can create “decorative coils” by creating spirals with your rolled coils or twisting/ braiding coils together
    3. All coils should be attached by slipping and scoring while building upward
  3. When finished building, smooth out connections with water and a sponge
  4. Allow to dry fully and then bisque fire to cone 04

Glaze:

  1. Wipe your bisqueware with a damp sponge
  2. Using a larger soft bristle brush, apply a generous about of your chosen color to your pot, focusing on getting the underglaze in between the coils
  3. Allow underglaze to dry slightly (about one minute) and wipe away with a damp sponge, leaving underglaze only in the recess areas
  4. Once you are satisfied with your underglaze application allow it to dry
  5. Clear coat your pot by dipping it into clear glaze (S-2000)
  6. Use stilts to glaze fire your piece to cone 06
